Italian Recipes to Celebrate the 4th of July

I must confess that, since I met Rob, my list of holidays to celebrate has gotten much longer – Thanksgiving, Cinco de Mayo, St. Patrick’s Day… and of course (American) Independence Day – the 4th of July!  Every holiday means sharing food and fun with family and friends.

Here are a few ideas for appetizers, sides, drinks and desserts to enjoy with your holiday BBQ. Have a wonderful 4th of July!

Appetizers

If you are looking for something quick and easy to make, you can serve Italian Bruschetta Three Ways .

If you have a bit more time and can plan ahead, Sicilian Arancini would also be a hit.

Sides

As a side dish for your BBQ, I suggest some Simply Roasted Bell Peppers, as they will be great especially with beef.

You can’t just eat meat! So how about some Kale Cannellini Salad with Arugula Mint Pesto, which will also keep the vegetarians and vegans happy!

And of course, you need a Pasta Salad – Grilled Melon Pasta Salad with Crudo Ham & Gorgonzola is a symphony of summer flavors.

Drinks

And when it’s time to quench your thirst, my choice would be a Spritz! Orange, bitter-sweet and fizzy, Aperol Spritz is your go-to drink this summer.

In the mood for something a bit more tropical? Try the  Passion Fruit Spritz.

Dessert

You always need to end with something sweet. Since it is hot, the refreshing Mini Cherry Tiramisu Pots are a perfect choice. Quick, easy and with a result that will impress your guests.
